RSPCA MEMORIAL GARDEN

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers
2014 –
National Gold Award & Best in Category Commercial Design for $100,000 or more

This therapeutic design is enabling people to feel supported, protected and embraced. These are the key feelings that we wanted to create in the design. It was important to avoid abrasive context, reducing sharp corners and straight lines. The shape of the walls and the overall layout represents the power of a synergistic, continual relationship.

The way that the wall height of 900mm engages you at the entrance, and as you walk into the space it gradually rises to 1800mm to create the sense of privacy, and then gradually reduces down to 900mm again as you leave. We want visitors to feel invited into the space, and then feel comfortable to stay.
