ABOUT THE PROJECT – IN PROGRESS

This established commercial location situated in the lush green setting of the North Shore offers an abundance of modern internal office facilities. The need to embrace a new way of working post-COVID called for a focus on the external, for those places to gather, work in socially distanced groups or just take time out to sit in the sun and take a well-deserved mental break.

This rejuvenated landscape provides all that and so much more. It takes this bland, hot and exposed site and is not just a reflection of it’s surrounding landscape but creates a space that is tactile, visually calming and embracing. This new external green office connects with the senses, it calms the spirit and creates a sense of welcome to all that come to work, visit and engage.

The shapes, layout and tone of the planters are inspired by the eucalyptus seed pods and the overhead shade structures draw spirit from the distinctive leaf shapes. Scented seasonal planting surrounds the users and vertical climbers soften the existing building. A low maintenance water feature creates subtle movement and sound whilst additional trees provide seasonal flowering and an entrance statement for all within the main building.

The courtyard garden is the way of the future. It blurs the lines between inside and out and plays a major role not just in staff retention, but more importantly our mental wellbeing.
