OUTHOUSE Design principal designer Steve Warner has been awarded the 2021 Allan Correy Award for Design Excellence at the AILDM awards in December, marking the third time Steve has received this honour.

2019 winner Adrian Swain, from ecodesign, presented the award to Steve via video link at the awards ceremony, saying Steve’s body of work “demonstrates his commitment to not only create great landscapes but do so in a way that addresses the needs of people to find both joy and solace”.

Outhouse’s entries this year were in the small residential, education and commercial aged care sectors and won gold in multiple categories.

“[Steve’s] entries showed great design techniques to solve environmental site issues and meet complex client needs,” Adrian said.

“Steve has demonstrated a diversity of design skills and sensitivity to the needs of those who will use the spaces… [creating] places that soothe the human psyche and celebrate nature”.

The Allan Correy Award is named for a founding patron of AILDM and one of Australia’s landscape architecture pioneers. The award is presented to an entrant to the AILDM Landscape Design Awards that best represents Correy’s values.
