Project Description
The Garden Pod – In progress
Charles Street, Enmore | Residential
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This character inner west home is with minutes’ walk of bustling Newtown, but when you are in the back garden you would never think it.
The established Jacaranda tree with its impressive canopy provides summer shade and a splash of flower colour, making it the gardens major focal point. Its generous tree limbs provide years of climbing fun for the children and odd attachment for the swing. But with such a tree comes construction obstacles and so working with the project Arborist we have mapped out the existing major root layout and defined the level changes using existing site stone enclosed in gabion cages, keeping soil compaction to a minimum. The layout of the major roots inspired the curved pathway layout, which creates a more relaxed journey and visually stretches what is a long linear garden.
The upper garden allows for casual seating and afternoon drinks, whilst the crushed gravel pathway creates an engaging journey from back of house to the lower carpark/studio. Its curves provide deeper garden beds for layered privacy planting, an open lawn for ball games and a place to locate the Jacaranda pod cubby.
All in all this is a garden for the complete family, for the kids to grow up and a place in the garden to work from home.
