Project Description

Reinventing The Front Garden Arrival

Richards Ave, Marrickville | Front garden

ABOUT THE PROJECT

When our client approached us to rejuvenate the front garden, they felt the need to engage more with the community, move away from the traditional and embrace a more organic and open front garden. So, we couldn’t be happier with the results and the many compliments our native garden has received from so many inner west residents.

The entrance to the garden has been relocated to the corner of the property boundary, being marked by the gabion wall and letter box. This allows us to visually stretch the garden and make it not just feel bigger but create a meandering pathway that invites you on a sensory journey to the front door. Visitors and homeowners alike have an opportunity to engage daily with a mix of shrubs and groundcovers, all providing a year-round display of foliage contrast and flower. The punctuation of the Westringia balls create a soft contrast against the vibrant flowering salvia, and the core ten retaining edges allow us to play with level changes, heightening you experience.

This amazing little garden is still in its infancy, so over the coming years the native dwarf flowering gums will create that additional overhead layer and connection to the surrounding parkland landscape

It will only get better and better with age

“The team did an excellent job on our front and back garden design. They nailed the brief, which was to turn our small spaces into an oasis of native plants. They were also a pleasure to work with – responsive and supportive throughout the design process. We are constantly getting compliments on the front garden, and it is all down to the innovative design.”
