COURTYARD GARDEN RADIANCE
Phillip Street, Waterloo | Courtyard
ABOUT THE PROJECT – IN PROGRESS
This tiny courtyard garden is long, but only 2m wide, so this is a great example of the need to visually stretch the garden to give the illusion of width. Essentially this courtyard garden is also a roof garden as it is located on a slab above the communal garages below, so no dig and weight is a major impact on design options. The solution is a combination of custom made lightweight planter boxes at 2 different heights and placed on an angle. This allows us to create depth and layering within the garden beds, as well as the created width to install a number of small deciduous trees that will provide privacy from the above neighbours as well as year round interest.
The complete garden will be fabricated in the factory and then installed over the weekend, ensuring minimal impact. The layout has been designed in a way that our client can purchase cost effective standard outdoor furniture, such as a traditional BBQ storage cupboard and BBQ from Bunnings, whilst still creating a sense of overall quality with the bespoke planters.
This small garden is strong in personality and goes to show that with a combination of bespoke planters and standard furniture a great garden doesn’t need to cost a fortune.
